Midwife Appointment!

Morning everyone!!!
We were so excited to meet with our potential midwife last Thursday and I am so sorry it took this long to give you all an update about it! It was really just a meet and greet between us and the midwife. She has the cutest office with everything you would find in a small doctors office! We were brought to a room with her and her assistant and were just able to ask any questions we wanted! Jonathan says I asked so very very nerves, but I think I did ok!
I thought I would share with you a few of the questions we asked and the answers! If you were not aware yet, we have decided to do a home birth for a couple different reason! Maybe I will do a separate post another time talking about how we came to that decision!

Question #1... At what point in my labor will you come to my home?
Answer .....     She would like be to be in active labor before coming over to my house! She would like me to be having contractions for 1 hour that are 1 minute long and 1 minute apart. Of course we will be communicated with her before this time so she is ready to come as soon as she is needed!

Question #2 .... Have you done VBACs very often?
Answer .....       She has done alot of VBACs... she says that she did have one women who when they got to her house, they judge off of the way she was acting that it would be best to go ahead and transfer her to the hospital, but otherwise she has had very good outcomes in her VBACs.

Question #3 .... Have you ever missed a birth?
Answer ....        She said that YES this does happen. She said it is most often a mothers second child who just thinks she has more time before she will deliver and then calls her when it is time to push!

Question #4 .... Between what weeks am I able to deliver at home?
Answer ....        I mist be at least 36 weeks 6 days in order to deliver at home. If I were to go into labor before that time, we would need to deliver at the hospital. If I were to go past my due date and hit 42 weeks she would then ask me to see a OB/GYN and let them do an ultrasound to evaluate the health of the baby and the placenta. We will make a decision from that point.

Question #5 .... How is the birth certificate obtained?
Answer .....      She will take care of this for us as well as the social security card!

Question #6 .... What hospital do you transfer to?
Answer .... She has a doctor she work in tandem with who works out of the hospital that is across the street from us. This is not the closest hospital to her office so we were so excited to hear this news. this really help Jonathan feel comfortable that if we need to transfer for any reason we will have a faster transition into the closest hospital!

We asked a few more, but those were the main one! If you think of something you want to know that I didn't answer here, just ask!  I will be back Wednesday with my 6 week update!
